• Border MLI Project, Rio Grande, TX
  • Integrated the proposed border fence into a HEC-RAS 2D hydraulic model to evaluate its impact on river flow within the Rio Grande. Recommended design modifications were developed to mitigate potential adverse effects of the fence on hydraulic performance and ensure unobstructed flow conditions.

• Sewer Master Plan for CSA 70 BL for Bloomington, San Bernardino County, CA
  • Developed an existing sewer model along Valley Boulevard, calibrated it using flow monitoring data, and prepared a proposed system model. From the proposed model, derived sewer flow projections for both peak and average dry-weather conditions at the planned connection points to the existing network. The final report includes a comprehensive section presenting conclusions and recommendations.

• Black Creek Cooling Water Facility Dam, Jackson County, MS
  • Conducted a comprehensive review of hydrology and hydraulic reports supporting the redesign of the primary spillway structure to ensure compliance with both high- and low-flow requirements. Provided detailed recommendations outlining the optimal approach for spillway rehabilitation.

• Water Treatment Plant Design Authority for Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Yuma, AZ
  • Prepared the conceptual design for a new water treatment plant intended to serve the City of Yuma, California. The scope of work included: designing the raw water pipeline system from the canal to the treatment facility, developing the pipeline system connecting groundwater wells to the treatment facility, and completing the preliminary design of the water treatment facility itself. This conceptual design will serve as the basis for Design-Build companies to prepare competitive bids.

• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Model of the RCC Stepped Chute Spillway for Wheeling Creek Dam, NRCS, WV, USA
  • The two CFD models are developed to design the roller compacted concrete (RCC) stepped chute spillway. The first CFD DHI Mike 3 model (CFD-1) contains the entire reservoir bathymetry including the dam and the Proposed Auxiliary Spillway (PAS). This CFD-1 is used to confirm 2 feet of freeboard over the dam crest during a 6-Hour Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) inflow to the reservoir. The second high resolution Autodesk CFD model (CFD-2) contains the proposed auxiliary spillway approach channel and PAS. This CFD-2 is used to optimize energy dissipation performance in the stilling basin and ensure no-overtopping of the left and right PAS training walls and PAS stilling basin walls.

• Dam Breach Flood Inundation Analysis for Hinckley Lake Dam, Cleveland Metroparks, OH, USA
  • Dam Breach Flood Inundation Analysis was performed for the Hinckley Lake Dam using the dam rehabilitation design data. The three scenarios are run: Clear Day (Sunny Day) Dam Failure, Probable Maximum Flood (PMF), and PMF with Dam Failure. The results of maximum water depths and maximum water velocities are presented on careful flood inundation maps and video animations where different colors correspond to different water depths and different water velocities.

• Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for Hinckley Lake Dam, Cleveland Metroparks, OH, USA
  • Updated the old EAP with new dam rehabilitation information and included new flood inundation maps from dam breach report.

• Independent Review of Gate System Design for Cedar River Flood Control System, The City of Cedar Rapids, IA, USA
  • Independent review of the proposed improvements to the caster assembly of gates in the Cedar River Flood Control System was conducted and the client was presented with the conclusion that the proposed improvements do not appear to consider the long-term operation needs of the city and that the problems must be approached from several angles and with different methods.

• Vogtle 3&4 Civil Engineering Support for NOI-2 100-Year Ditch Erosion, Southern Nuclear, GA, USA
  • Delivered problem statement that defines exactly what the issue is and explains why erosion occurred at retention pond entry. Proposed two conceptual designs of energy dissipation: Short Stilling Basin for Canal Structure and Baffled Apron for Canal Structure. Short Stilling Basin for Canal Structure was selected by Vogtle 3&4 board of directors and detailed modeling with 3D software is performed to provide optimum design. The design drawing set is created, and construction support is provided.

• Engineering Construction Support for Project L-897, Construction Readiness for Hanford Mission Integration Solution (HMIS), WA, USA
  • Acting as Task Lead and Review Chairman for this constructability review of Water Treatment Facility with capacity of 5 million gallons per day (MGD) production of clean potable water. Performed Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) constructability review, met weekly with the client and reported on current work progression, managed and incorporated the work of other discipline leads, such as mechanical, electrical, information & communication, and fire engineers, into the final report.

• Sky Ranch Lift Station, Colorado, USA
  • Design of the lift station for the Neighborhood D and E for the new Sky Ranch development. Calculations and construction drawings for the wet well to accommodate the 1000 gpm peak flow are created. An underground pump station with 70 feet of head and 40 horsepower motors is designed. The construction pumpstation drawings are created.

• Sky Ranch Land Development Planning, Colorado, USA
  • Reviewing and approving land development plans from concept to the final plats for 500 home lots, commercial lots (for possible Walmart or King Supers, and Home Depot or Lowe’s), fire station lot, recreation center, and two school lots. Creating hydraulic calculations and report for fire protection system per Watkins Fire Marshal request. Design, plan, and review for overall water and sanitary sewer infrastructure, internal and spine infrastructure for the lots mentioned above, and the irrigation distribution system for parks. Rangeview water treatment infrastructure design, review, and approval, including sewage plant and drinking water treatment plant.

• Rangeview Water System Development Project, Colorado, USA
  • Developing ArcGIS Pro geodatabase of potable water distribution system from a water tank and pump station to 500 new build homes, irrigation distribution system from the water reclamation facility (WRF) and water storage reservoir to the newly built neighborhood and parks, sanitary sewer distribution system from houses to the WRF, and storm system for the Sky Ranch neighborhood. The geodatabase data is developed by transferring Civil 3D files into ArcGIS and with high accuracy surveying of the facilities, such as pipelines, hydrants, valves, manholes, etc., using Trimble centimeter-accurate equipment and ESRI Collector phone app with direct surveying into ArcGIS Online geodatabase.

• Reservoir B and C, Colorado, USA
  • Developing master plan design for the Reservoir B (Aurora East Reservoir) and Reservoir C on the east side of the Reservoir B. Design of the reservoirs is separated into two stages to accommodated current and future water needs of the Watkins and Bennett. Reservoir B is designed to accumulate 24,000 ac-ft in Stage 1 and 61,000 ac-ft in Stage 2, and Reservoir C is designed to accumulate 1,000 ac-ft in Stage 1 and 29,000 ac-ft in Stage 2.

• Booster Pump at LFH-11, Colorado, USA
  • Defined optimal location for the booster pump to enlarge pipe flow capacity through the current HDPE pipeline. For this occasion, a variable speed pit-less well pump is used to optimize electricity usage. This unique design saved one million dollars on capital cost.

  • Creating design standards for water and sanitary sewer district.

• Black Lake Dam, Flathead Reservation, Montana, USA
  • The rehabilitation study for Black Lake Dam is performed for sizing of the spillway and determining dam freeboard over the dam crest.

• Coolidge Dam, San Carlos Reservation, Arizona, USA
  • The dam breach parameters were defined for the three reinforced concrete dome arches that transmit reservoir loads into two main buttresses on the downstream side of the Coolidge Dam and two smaller buttresses on the left and right dam abutments.

• Kicking Horse Dam and Dikes, Flathead Reservation, Montana, USA
  • The flood inundation study for Kicking Horse Dam and Dikes was performed for the following scenarios: Non-Dam-Failure Advisory Flood, Sunny-Day Dam Failure, and Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) Dam Failure. The PMF Dam Failure of Kicking Horse Dam will cause failure of downstream Ninepipe structure, which also modeled as failure in series. PMF Dike Failures was performed as well for three embankments.

• Ninepipe Dam, Flathead Reservation, Montana, USA
  • The flood inundation study for Ninepipe Dam and Dikes was performed for the following scenarios: Non-Dam-Failure Advisory Flood, Sunny-Day Dam Failure, PMF Dam Failure, and PMF Dike Failures of four embankments.

• Ambrose Dam, Crow Creek Reservation, South Dakota, USA
  • The flood inundation study for Ambrose Dam was performed for the following scenarios: Non-Dam-Failure Advisory Flood, Sunny-Day Dam Failure, and PMF Dam Failure. Characteristic for this study, reservoir rise during the PMF flood will cause flood around the lake before the dam breach, which was analyzed and mapped likewise.

• Lake Mescalero Dam, Mescalero Apache Reservation, New Mexico, USA
  • The flood inundation study for Lake Mescalero Dam was performed for the following scenarios: Non-Dam-Failure Advisory Flood, Sunny-Day Dam Failure, and PMF Dam Failures.

• Silver Lake Dam, Mescalero Apache Reservation, New Mexico, USA
  • The flood inundation study for Silver Lake Dam was performed for the following scenarios: Non-Dam-Failure Advisory Flood, Sunny-Day Dam Failure, and PMF Dam Failures.

• Eagle Creek #1 Dam, Mescalero Apache Reservation, New Mexico, USA
  • The flood inundation study for Eagle Creek #1 Dam was performed for the following scenarios: Non-Dam-Failure Advisory Flood, Sunny-Day Dam Failure, and PMF Dam Failures.
